just kids pediatric dental center

Dear Just Kids Families,
In light of the most recent recommendations from the President of the United States, the CDC, the American Dental Association, the Alaska Dental Society, and the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services we will be closing our office until April 1. We will however remain open and available for all dental emergencies and urgent procedures such as sedations and general anesthesia surgeries.

Untreated dental decay and abscesses are considered urgent/emergent needs due to the possibility of severe pain, facial swelling, disrupted eating and sleep habits, cellulitis, and sepsis. Because of this we encourage you to call us if your child is experiencing any pain or your child develops any abscess. If your child has a scheduled sedation or surgery with us and we have recommended to proceed with treatment, we encourage you to do so in order to prevent future unnecessary pain and negative consequences.

We appreciate your understanding through all of this and we are here for you if you have any questions or concerns. Please remain calm during this stressful time and understand that we are in this together. We are all trying to do our part for the community so that our lives can return to normal as soon as possible. Although this has placed many of us in difficult and burdensome situations, we can take this opportunity to spend some time with our families and appreciate our health. Please stay safe and act wisely…heed the recommendations and stay home unless absolutely necessary.

As always, your health and overall wellbeing are our number one priority and we will be here for you when you need us. Our phone lines will remain open at 907-333-5437 and you can email questions to our office manager at

primary teeth care

Primary Teeth

Pediatric dentists not only care about creating a positive experience for your child, but also setting your child up with a healthy smile for life. It is very important to maintain the health of the primary teeth. Neglected cavities can and frequently do lead to problems which affect developing permanent teeth. Primary teeth also affect the development of speech and add to an attractive appearance. While the front 4 teeth last until 6-7 years of age, the back teeth (cuspids and molars) aren’t replaced until age 10-13.
